Spanish cult director Álex de la Iglesia has been making terrific horror-comedies for 30 years, but in the TV series 30 Coins, he drops the comedy in favor of a master-class re-examination of the horror genre, Lovecraftian dread, the nature of evil, and the roots of religion.
